After divorce, pain has a way of getting loud.

It doesn’t just hurt—it starts shaping what you believe is true about yourself, your future, and what’s possible now. If we’re not careful, pain becomes our compass. And pain is a terrible navigator.

The world tells us, “Live your truth.”
But Jesus never said that.
He said, “I am the Truth.”

That difference matters—especially when you’re healing.

When Pain Distorts Truth

In Matthew 28, the women go to Jesus’ tomb carrying spices. They fully expect death. What they don’t expect is resurrection—even though Jesus had promised it.

Their truth was grief.
God’s truth was life.

Pain made them forget the promise.

And after divorce, we often do the same thing. We pray from pain instead of promise. We plan from fear instead of faith. We assume what has been lost can never be restored.

So here’s the honest question:
Do you pray only from your pain—or do you pray expecting God to move you out of that season?

The Stone Was Already Rolled Away

On the way to the tomb, the women worry about the stone. But when they arrive, it’s already gone. God had already handled the obstacle they were stressing over.

Isn’t that familiar?

Our truth says:

  • “I’ll never feel safe again.”
  • “I’ll always struggle financially.”
  • “This loneliness will never end.”

But God’s truth says:

  • “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
  • “I am near the brokenhearted.”
  • “I hold your future and your hope.”

We often stay stuck in the pain of the crucifixion—while resurrection has already begun.

Leave the Dead Where They Belong

Philippians 3:13–14 reminds us to forget what’s behind and press forward. You can’t press on if you’re sitting in the past.

And here’s a little loving wisdom:
Don’t take your grave clothes into your future.

Grave clothes don’t belong where God is taking you.

Healing begins with surrender—choosing God’s truth over emotional fear and past pain.

So let me ask you one last thing:

What truth are you carrying into your future—yours, or His?

Because pain may have shaped a season…
but it does not get to define your purpose.

Resurrection is already in motion.
